Some Random Pics from LA...
A few weeks back I took a weekend trip to LA to catch a show, eat some foods, and hang with friends. I think I might be in love with LA, but I also have slight commitment issues so instead of moving there, I just try to visit alot. :P Originally I was going to try and make a video and a longer post, but then...life kinda happened and now it's almost a month later and nothing's up yet. Uh yah. So...I thought I'd post a few pictures from the trip since I took so many, and if/when I finish the video, I'll post that up too.
Priority boarding is awesome! It's especially awesome when you're running late and after breezing through check in, you run to your gate and you're still the last ones on board. Just a side observation, haha. So, after barely making our flight...we land extremely hungry. I was up for anything but my friend demanded we get pho, so we looked up the closest place to the airport we could find and hoped for the best. Wasn't too bad and I remembered how much I love seeing palm trees everywhere in the background.
Later that night we headed over to Exchange to catch the Anjuna show (because I love all things A&B). Was sorely tempted to get some food from the carts outside after but ended up heading home hungry instead. :( The next day I was lucky enough to meet up with @eatswtihanthony, who took me on a mini donut adventure in downtown LA! Ended up spending $23 on donuts (tax + tip) and wasn't sad about it. LA seriously has the cutest doughnuts man!
For lunch a group of us headed to Quarters Korean BBQ, and everyone made fun of me for sitting cross-legged in the booth, why??? If it's a casual meal and there's room, why not get comfy? Am I the only one who does this? After a brief regroup back at the hotel we decided more sweets were in order and made a stop at Beard Papa's for some cream puffs. So maybe none of these places so far are hidden LA jewels, but they are also all places I don't get in Chicago so I was happy!
Later that night we wandered around Venice. It was cold and cloudy and grey, and I thought I was being brave by walking into the ocean until I realized the water wasn't that cold. (Doh) Took some time looking at the weird ass creatures in the little aquarium at the end of the peer, then headed back up the hill for some food and drinks.
Sunday we had an entire day before our flight back to Chicago, so we decided to explore Venice Beach for a bit. Was originally going to eat at Gjusta Bakerym but it was really busy and we were really hungry, so wandered back towards the beach and ended up at Rose Cafe. I really liked it! It's really pretty in there and my matcha latte was huge! Midway through meal a giant jewel-colored beetle buzzed over and through all the brunch goers, causing mild panic which was kinda funny.
After brunch there wasn't much time before we had to head back to the airport, but I'll be back...I really want to start exploring some of the lesser known, local favorites. Hopefully I'll be back soon!
